Kaylie's 2nd Bday and other events...

So the beginning of this month started with a couple weeks in Modesto. Marcus had some appointments and lunches in Stockton, so we stayed at his parents home since it was less of a drive to the different schools. It was nice spending time there and Kaylie likes a change of scenery every once in a while too.  Kaylie turned 2 this month! She is growing so fast! We would have liked to not be sick the whole week, but unfortunately I caught the flu bug and then passed it along to the rest of the family. It has not been fun, but we were still able to celebrate with Kaylie. Since Marcus was down with the flu that morning, I took Kaylie out of the house (thinking she was feeling just fine) and we went to Toys R Us to browse around and see what we could find. We went up and down almost every aisle in the store just for fun! She actually had a blast! The lady at check out even gave her a balloon and crown to wear! After shopping, Kaylie went down for a nap and then woke up with a fever. So the rest of the evening was a little bit slow - we ate some dinner, blew out candles, and then opened presents. She seemed to enjoy it all though! I forgot to mention in my last post a couple of things Kaylie said or did:
February 4th - Dad said he was going to get in the show, show (or shower) and Kaylie said, "show show, what?"
February 13th - Mommy and Daddy were hugging and Kaylie said, "Guys, what are you doing?"
March 4th - Kaylie started singing more songs with us instead of just listening to us - all the bedtime songs and nursery songs ( She is SO cute when she sings! It makes us giggle some nights.)

Other than that, Kaylie has become more outgoing, extremely talkative, more independent, and more and more sweet! We love our little girl and we are so happy she is in our lives! She walked out of her room from playing with her toys the other day and said, "Mom, I give you a hug". She just came up and gave me a hug! It was the cutest thing in the world. She is much better at explaining herself now and letting me know what she wants/needs. Kaylie has also been showing love to the baby in my tummy. She is not going to forget its there! She gives kisses and check-ups and rubs my tummy. It is super sweet! Kaylie's favorite things these days are: shopping with her purse and sunglasses in the house, giving check-ups to all her stuffed animals and dolls, building tall tall towers with her blocks, and favorite tv shows are Daniel Tiger, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Winnie the Pooh and Doc McStuffins. It is so fun to see her personality and interests coming out. She is learning about how to pretend and we love going right along with it.

Enjoy the pictures!

The Last of the February Pics

Kaylie is getting closer to being potty trained and we tried a potty chart to see if that would get her more motivated. It worked pretty well and now we are trying panties over the pull ups - if she stays dry she keeps them on, if she gets wet, we take them away. It seems to be working really well. Here is a picture of the chart we did - very simple.

The other pictures I have are of Kaylie playing outside and the pie is my dad's 49th birthday dessert! Yum!

Visiting Jon In Oregon

In February my mom and brothers had a week long break from school so they wanted to go visit Jon in Oregon. Kaylie and I tagged along. We had a fun trip and Jon showed us a lot in the few days we were there. The first day we were there he showed us around the city of Portland. It was neat to see all the cool buildings and we even stopped at the famous Voodoo Doughnut shop. Outside the shop was a funny plant decorated as a monster. Kaylie got a kick out of it! The second day Jon took us to the coast and to the Tillamook cheese factory. The weather was not great at all, to say the least - windy and rainy, but we were still able to see the things we wanted. Once we finished touring the cheese factory we had some delicious ice cream! The last day we had to visit, we went on a tour of waterfalls! Again it was pouring outside so we jumped out of the car and back in real quick each time we wanted to see one, except for Multnomah Falls. We hiked just a little ways to get the best view and take pictures.  It was really nice to be able to spend that time with Jon and have him show us around. On the way home we stopped to take pictures in front of the Medford, OR temple.  It reminded me a lot of the Sacramento Temple. I had never been that far north, so I'm glad I was able to take that trip with my family. Marcus and dad had to work otherwise, I'm sure they would have come along too.

Lola's Visit & Valentine's Day

Marcus's mom, Melania, and her father came to visit on the 13th for the day. We spent the afternoon together and ate out for lunch once Marcus was done working. We are always happy to have visitors! The next day we spent together for Valentine's Day. We got each other a little something and Kaylie even got a gift from us as well. Then we ate out for dinner at Sizzlers. Delicious food, and Kaylie loved the cup that they gave her so much that she drank too much water. Right before we left she puked all over the table! What a way to end the night, huh? At least we will never forget it. Ha ha!

February Trip to the Zoo

We went to the zoo last year and decided to do it again for 1/2 price admission day on February 2nd! We even made it to Fairytale Town this time and Kaylie loved it! She made it through to about 3:00 without a nap but as soon as we got in the car, she was out! We all had a good time and Kaylie loved seeing the animals, however, she did get antsy and didn't watch one animal for too long. My mom and brother, Jeff, joined us this time. Here are some pics:
