July 4th Celebration

Just a little post about the 4th of July. We got Kaylie so excited to see the fireworks, so that day we gave her a late nap so she could stay up and enjoy them with us! We spent the morning at home with Marcus who had the day off. Then we headed over to my Aunt Debbie's house around 2 for swimming, ice cream, and dinner. Kaylie took her nap from 4-6 and around 8:30 we headed over to La Sierra Community Center to park and get a spot to watch the fireworks. We didn't get home until around 10.  I love watching fireworks every year and listening to the patriotic music that plays in the background. I am proud to be an American!

My parents and brothers, Jeff and Jason, joined us at the firework show!

When the fireworks began, Kaylie started covering her ears - after a while she put her hands down and just started commenting on all the fireworks. She loved it!

Our Beautiful Daughter

I have to do a little blurb on Kaylie because she is growing so much every month. She is learning new words and phrases and becoming so creative and imaginative.  We love her to pieces! This past month we have been going walking to parks, swimming in the pool at our complex, playing with all her favorite toys, reading books, doing puzzles, coloring, watching her favorite shows, baking cookies and all other kinds of fun stuff. I have even introduced her to painting her fingernails and toenails! One morning she noticed that I had painted my toenails and she said, "Mom! Your toenails are blue! Can you paint my toenails too?!" It was SO cute. Ever since that day back in late March, we have been keeping her fingernails and toenails painted all kinds of colors. She is my girly girl and I love it! I've also been trying new hairstyles on her too since her hair is getting so long. I've figured out that if I want to do something like, french braids, the only way to keep her still long enough is either having her play with all her hair clips at the counter, or watch a show.  Her favorite shows these days are: Doc McStuffins, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Dora the Explorer, and SuperWhy. She also loves Winnie the Pooh but we only have The Tigger Movie, so occasionally we will watch that.

Here are some clever things she has been saying lately:
Whenever she is sick, even with the slightest cold, she will say, "I'm not feeling so good." and sometimes she will ask for a check-up. (We use her doc mcstuffins doctor tools for that.)

On July 9th we were playing with puzzles in the front room and she decided she wanted to do something else. She asked me if we had ping pong paddles because she wanted to hit her toy balls around with them. I told her we didn't and she looks around for a minute and says, "Maybe we can pretend that these are ping pong paddles" and she picked up a puzzle piece and hit her little soccer ball with it. It's so funny the way she gets creative and explains herself so well!

On July 10th Kaylie climbed into bed with me when she woke up. She was playing with the curtains hanging over our bed and she said, "When I hear the dogs barking, that means the windows open... that's my problem." Ha ha! She is so funny - she has been using, "that's my problem" every once in a while. And she always uses it at the right time too.

She has been using big words lately, and in the right context too. She hears everything I say and then adds it to her vocabulary so quickly. Words like, "actually" and "obedient". She is growing up so fast! Here are some pictures of her over the past couple months.

May 9th - Learning to climb at the park

May 12th - Playing with Uncle Jason

May 14th - Going for a walk in our complex

May 17th - Helping me build a dresser for the kids room

May 26th - Sleeping with her baby dolls

May 28th - Painted her fingernails for the first time!

June 7th - baking chocolate chip cookies!

June 13th - playing at the park

June 17th - got creative and transformed her bed into a car - she puts mommy and daddy in the back and says, "We are going to the beach and then to the park and then home." So funny!

June 20th - Kaylie decided she wanted to put her pjs over her play clothes - see the yellow shirt hanging out under her top?! Ha ha!

June 21st - Steph and Colette French came to visit and Kaylie loved Colette
Kaylie just wanted to hold her and be near her - it was so fun! She can't wait for baby boy to be here!
Same day - I did a photo shoot with her and she was so great for me!

 June 27th - French Braids!

Baby Boy Update

Well we are just about 6 weeks away from the due date and we can't wait for our little boy to be here! Everything has gone fairly smooth this pregnancy and we are hoping it will continue to go well. We had a tour of Kaiser in Roseville labory and delivery on the 11th and we got even more excited! Kaylie came with us and she enjoyed sitting in the comfy chairs in the different rooms. She was so funny. Here are some pics of the baby bump!

Summer Fun!

June was an eventful month as well! Marcus joined my dad and brothers on a father/son camp out on the 7th and 8th. They went to Nevada City where someone had a ranch and several acres. They camped out and the next day they went zip lining and swimming in a man made lake.  They did a ropes course that was on the ranch as well. That Saturday was really hot so they didn't stay past noon.

Mom and I attended Julia's bridal shower on the 8th. Jacob and Julia would be married on the 29th! I was so excited to welcome Julia into the family. She is an absolute sweetheart! Here is a picture of the two of us together at the shower!

We celebrated Jeff's birthday on the 12th. He is 20 this year! Here are some pics from the little party we had with family.

We did a couple fun things the next two weekends. On the 15th we went to Oakdale to spend the day with Marcus's family. His cousins, Jodi and Eric, have an 8 year old son who was being baptized that day. It was neat to be able to join them for that special day.  Father's Day was on the 16th. Kaylie and I did breakfast in bed for daddy and we spent the rest of the afternoon with my family to celebrate with my dad.

On the 22nd Marcus and I went to a movie at the theaters - we saw "Man of Steel" which is another superman movie, but it was actually pretty well done. We don't go to the theaters much, but this one was totally worth it! We celebrated my mom's birthday on the 23rd.  Everyone helped me make dinner for her and we had some cheesecake and ice cream for dessert.  Yes, June is a birthday month for my family!

On the 25th Julia went to the temple in preparation for the wedding on the 29th. After the special session held there we all went out for dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory. I had already met her mom, but it was really nice to finally meet Julia's dad and grandparents. She really has a nice family.

Jacob and Julia were married and sealed in the temple for time and all eternity on June 29th. Everything went pretty smoothly that day and it was a great day to celebrate! Here are some of the pictures we took. I can't wait to see more!

Southern California Vacation

On May 30th we headed to Southern California because we would be attending a wedding for Jessica Bunney on the 1st. We decided to make a longer trip out of it since Marcus had the time off.  First we headed to Beverly Hills where my cousin, Jenn Thompson, lives. We visited with her and her four boys for the afternoon and evening. It was fun seeing Kaylie interact with her cousins. Tristan, Jenn's 3 year old, was so excited to have her there and they played very well together. The other boys were very good with her too. Jenn, Marcus and I stayed up late after putting the kids to bed, playing games and talking the night away. Scott was on a business trip, so we missed him. We always enjoy visiting the Thompson Family. The next morning, the 31st, we visited for a little while, some of the boys headed off to school, and we got ready to go to Huntington Beach! Kaylie could not wait to go to the beach. We left around 10:30 to miss the traffic in the city and headed to Huntington Beach where we spent a few hours enjoying the ocean. Afterwards we headed to Marcus's Aunt's home in Anaheim. Ate Bing Bing is Melania's sister and we spent the evening at their home. We met Marcus's parents there as well. It was the perfect place to stay since it was only 30 minutes from the temple we would be attending the next day. It was nice to see Ella and Randy too. Ella was so kind to Kaylie and it was fun to see them interact. On the 1st of June we went to breakfast in the morning with everyone and then we got ready for the wedding. We headed to the Newport Beach Temple for Jessica and Paul's sealing. It was a beautiful and unique temple! Everything went very smoothly and we were able to have cousins babysit Kaylie while we were inside. After pictures we headed to the church building where the reception would be held. Kaylie played in the nursery and we helped set up a little bit. The reception was so much fun and it was a great day spent with all the Bunney family! Everyone was so helpful and happy. We are so excited for Jessica to start her new married life with Paul. On the 2nd we went to breakfast with a lot of Melania's family. I hadn't even met some of them before. Marcus loved seeing some of his cousins again. They were all so sweet and friendly and we wished we could have visited longer, but we headed home that day. Marcus would be starting his new job on the 6th and he needed to get everything prepared for it. He started at Robert Half International where he is working as a Staffing Manager there. It is a Temp Agency and he is the one who helps match people up with their different clients for temporary or permanent positions. He really loves being in a somewhat managerial position and feels like he is doing well there. However, the adjustment to working an 8-5 shift has been the hardest. Especially for me who loves having him home so much. I am so proud of him for working so hard! Now here are a few pictures from our trip!
