It's all about our little princess...

Kaylie is 17 1/2 months old now! Her vocabulary is expanding like crazy these past couple weeks and she is turning into quite the entertainer and goofball! Kaylie can be quite the sass sometimes; everyone around the house knows that one of her favorite words is "no", but she can also be an absolute sweetheart. She has perfected the art of saying "thank you" whenever it is warranted, and she says it in the most sincere voice.  "I love you" has become one of the most adorable and sincere things she says as well. Kaylie loves to dance whenever there is music or someone else dancing. She tries to copy every word that anyone else says. The only word we are struggling to teach her is "yes"! She lets us know "yes" by saying "huh" or by nodding her head. It has only been recently that she is trying to say "yes". It's a work in progress. Within the past day she is learning to pronounce the "s" sound so she can say things like "face", "bus", "please", "this" and it is adorable seeing her little tongue stick out while pronouncing the words! Kaylie has been going to nursery at church on Sundays with the other kids her age and older. At first she just observed the other kids and did her own thing but now she is getting more comfortable and more friendly. I'll  stay in nursery with her until she is 18 months. She is really shy with other adults so I'm giving her plenty of time to warm up to them. We have been to soccer games and the park recently and there have been 5 year old girls that love to take Kaylie by the hand and befriend her. Fortunately she is finally letting other kids touch her. She used to just look at them and say "no" in her sassy little tone. Kaylie is getting quick on her feet and is becoming quite the pro at going up and down the stairs on her own balance. We love to watch Kaylie grow up and become a sweet little toddler!

Here are some pictures that we have taken in the month of August!

Kaylie loves her bracelets! She will keep them on for a long time until she realizes that she can't do much with one hand!
She fell asleep in her chair finishing her lunch one afternoon while I was vacuuming!
These are her favorite dolls! I have taught her how to sing to them!
Kaylie is getting extremely strong! She can hold up her own weight on the bar!
She loves playing horseback on daddy!
Every once in a while Kaylie will run into the front room, pull herself up on the piano bench and start playing the piano! She loves the piano!
These are an accumulation of all her stuffed animals, all but her 2 huge bears that have been given to her from aunts and uncles.

Celebrate!

We celebrated Marcus's 27th birthday on August 11th... and then we
celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on August 22nd!

Marcus's family came on the 10th and his parents took us all out to dinner!
Kaylie loves her Ate Lain! This is the last time we saw her before she left for China!
August 11th, I made some homemade pizza and set the table hoping that everyone would arrive on time for dinner, but they all came home from the trek a little bit later than planned. That's okay we had a nice evening anyways!
 Family Picture on the 11th
I made Marcus a cookie monster instead of a cake for his birthday! This was basically a warm cookie covered in vanilla ice cream, whipped topping, and chocolate sauce. Yum!

My parents watched Kaylie on the night of our anniversary.  We celebrated by going out to dinner at Red Lobster where we had a feast! Then we went to the Theater and saw Snow White and the Huntsman.
Very relaxing evening out together!

Lobster, Crab, and Shrimp!

I have the best husband in the world! Thank you Marcus for being so good to me!

Aunt Jan Visits, Jon Graduates and Harrison Reunion!

We stayed super busy during the 2nd half of July!

My mom's brother and his family came into town so the family all got together.

Then we headed to Idaho for Jon's graduation on July 20th! It was really neat to be back there again and see all the changes that were made to the campus. It has changed so much in just 1 year!

We stayed in Pocatello with the Evan Harrison family!
Julie and Nichole were so good with Kaylie!
We had a pre-graduation party in Jon's lounge!
 Graduated! Wahoo!

For the last weekend in July we had a Harrison Reunion! We had it in Sacramento this year! There was a great turn out and we had a blast! The first day was spent down the street from my parent's home at the Van Maren building where we played sports all day, had great conversation, watched slide shows that the families put together, and even had a campfire. The next day was spent at Stinson Beach! The last day was spent at a park in town with a nice area to congregate and a pool to swim in!

The first afternoon the girls, Hayden and Uncle Leslie were playing a cup game!
This was taken at the campfire!
At this point we were reciting poetry!
Stinson Beach! Can't ever get enough of the ocean!
 Kaylie and Tristan played together!
Kaylie was glad that her cousins brought some beach toys cause she loved them!
 The human pyramid!
Last day at the water park!
These were the family pictures that were taken! See what a great turn out there was!

Doug Returns From Guatemala!

Marcus's brother, Doug, returned home from serving his mission in Guatemala on July 12th. We were able to   have a great reunion with the immediate family for a few days! Doug met 3 new members of the family - Kaylie, his new niece, Naty, his new sister-in-law, and Alastair, his new brother-in-law. A lot changed over 2 years! It was fun having everyone together again!

Waiting for Doug at the airport!
Doug's home! Kaylie learned to say Doug's name really fast and she warmed up to him fast too! We think it is because he looks a lot like her daddy!

Visit with Harrison Grandparents in Modesto before going home to Carmichael.

We returned to Modesto on the 29th of July to hear Doug's homecoming talk.
Cute picture of Kaylie with Gigi that day! Kaylie is 16 1/2 months old here.
